Jeff Wright Joins Senpilot - Next Wave of Utility Tech

Bringing truly new operational software to utilities is an arduous task. The sector moves deliberately, often with good reason, and systems typically evolve incrementally over decades. So, when an executive with a track record of shaping core utility technology for over 20 years decides to get involved with a startup, it's worth paying attention. Jeff Wright, a name synonymous with major shifts in utility software, has joined Senpilot as a Board Advisor.

Jeff isn't just a general tech executive. He's built the products utilities rely on daily. He ran Oracle's global Energy & Water business, overseeing critical areas like Meter to Cash, Customer Engagement, Asset Management, and Grid Operations. Before that, he was CRO at Innowatts, scaling an AI-enabled SaaS platform across global energy markets, helping utilities make sense of complex data streams.

His impact on grid operations, specifically, is profound. As Global VP of GE Digital's Grid Solutions, Jeff was instrumental in taking GE's Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) from a distant #5 to the #1 market position. He also helped pioneer the Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMs) as a distinct software category, anticipating the rise of solar, batteries, and EVs years ago. And he cut his teeth at Silver Spring Networks, one of the foundational IoT plays for utilities, laying groundwork for connected infrastructure.

Recognizing the Next Major Shift

You don't get that kind of direct impact without a deep understanding of the market's trajectory. Jeff has seen every wave of utility software up close: from the rise of enterprise resource planning, to smart grid IoT, to big data analytics. He understands what sticks, what fades, and crucially, what's coming next.

His decision to join Senpilot stems from a conviction that agentic AI represents the next fundamental shift in how utilities operate. It's not just about dashboards or predictive models. Agentic AI is about creating software entities that understand goals, break them down into steps, execute tasks autonomously, and adapt based on real-time feedback. Imagine grid operations that don't just alert you to an issue, but actively coordinate responses across systems without human intervention, or customer service agents that proactively resolve complex billing disputes with minimal oversight.

Building the Future of Autonomous Utilities

This isn't just about adding a layer of intelligence; it's about fundamentally redesigning the interaction between humans and utility systems. Agentic AI shifts the paradigm from human-driven commands to goal-oriented, autonomous operations. This is a significant leap from the automation rules and scripts that define much of today's operational technology.

Senpilot is building the core platform for these agentic utilities. We're developing the infrastructure that allows these intelligent agents to interact with legacy systems, manage complex constraints, and operate securely at scale. Having Jeff Wright on board means we’re not just building theoretically; we’re building with the wisdom of someone who knows what truly works in this industry and what it takes to get it adopted.

His experience at the very bleeding edge of utility software for two decades gives us a clear advantage. He's seen the roadblocks, the adoption cycles, and the real-world operational challenges. That insight helps us push the bounds of what's possible with agentic AI, ensuring our solutions address actual utility needs, not just theoretical capabilities.
